I NO BE SALT

E don tey wey I start this business. I like it because it’s profitable. I get more money from it than from other things I’ve tried. If corn is not in season, I sell yam and beans. I sell fruits. I sell bananas.

The economy is really affecting us. No business. No market. No money to go and buy goods and sell, because of no market. It’s been up to 15 years since I moved to Abuja from Enugu state and started selling food and roasted corn. I am 33 years old now. At that time, a bag of corn was 1,000 Naira. But now, the same bag is between 18,000 and 20,000 Naira. That time, there was money.

I remain here when it rains. I don’t go anywhere. I can hold my umbrella. Also, if I leave, the rain will spoil my market. Staying under the rain doesn’t affect me because I no be salt. Some other traders around run and seek shelter. Others stay. Because of my fire, I cannot leave my business and start running. I’d rather hold this my big umbrella until it stops raining.

I have used this business to send my three boys to school. God has helped me in that area. I use it to train my children. People are supporting me and my business by buying. The people who love me are buying from me. Those who don’t love me are buying from my competitors.
